Recently I visited the house and gardens at Dumbarton Oaks, an historic estate hidden away in residential Georgetown in Washington, D.C. I was awe-struck by the grounds, so tree-covered among the hills that you forget you're not in the middle of the countryside!
Hidden gardens and pathways snake through the property, while you hear leaves rustling and the sound of birds... all while in the middle of the city.
My ample set of photos from my visit inspired this collection. I wanted to capture the beauty of nature, the mature trees, the flower gardens, and the way light scatters among the leaves, all while within the city limits.
From the rose garden to the Orangery to the lawns and majestic oaks, I wanted to capture the feeling of strolling through the grounds, exploring winding pathways, and watching the sun warm the flowers and plants on a long afternoon.
The collection features 6 paintings, available October 7th at noon Eastern.
Be sure to join my mailing list for a full collection preview and to shop the collection early!

I took several weeks in June and July and experimented with acrylics on raw canvas for the first time. I mostly work on wooden panel and paper in my current practice, and it's been years since I worked on canvas.
