Belles Fleurs: beautiful flowers. Flowers are one of my favorite subjects to paint. Echoing classical floral portraits, these pieces are soaked in color, laden with delicious fruits and joyful flowers. Pattern and texture add contrast and depth to each arrangement as the movement of the brushstrokes - sometimes bold and sometimes soft - creates a feeling of delicate impermanence, not unlike the flowers themselves. Captured permanently in paint, however, these florals are able to live on forever.
