While doing some gentle hiking in the Eastern US, we happened upon a giant, dead tree. Its beautiful twisty trunk was enormous, with curvy lines traveling up towards the sky. Standing alone on an island of grass, it was surrounded by younger willowy trees, their branches and leaves dancing around the coiled dowager queen in all her glory.
