I had such a wonderful time working from The Seedling Collective in Old Town Alexandria last week. The talented Anna Meyer stopped by to take some photos, and I thought you might like to see a little tour of the space.

I had the entire 500 square-foot space to myself right in the heart of historic Old Town.
I know what you're thinking: "Did you paint the door pink? Because it's totally on brand."
Well, believe it or not - it came that way! As did the white walls and shelves full of plants. I could not dream up a more perfect space in which to work and display my paintings.

Did you catch the pink light fixture above? (insert heart eyes)

I brought my easel, stool, and turquoise paint cart from my home studio and set it up on a fun jute rug as a makeshift studio. I started 4 paintings and finished 2 of them while working from there, so it felt like a pretty productive week.

There's something about changing work spaces for a little while that helps with creativity and productivity. It was nice not to have any distractions from home while working (even if the laundry did build up).

The space was just the right mix of vintage and modern.

I took breaks on that awesome pink velvet bench set below the giant window. It was the perfect spot to sip my coffee and plan out my day.

Thanks so much for coming on this tour with me! I hope you enjoyed it.
Now I'm back in my home studio painting away at my Floral Still Life Collection - coming August 29
(but newsletter subscribers get early access on the 28th -- are you on my list yet?).

Recently I visited the house and gardens at Dumbarton Oaks, an historic estate hidden away in residential Georgetown in Washington, D.C. I was awe-struck by the grounds, so tree-covered among the hills that you forget you're not in the middle of the countryside!

I took several weeks in June and July and experimented with acrylics on raw canvas for the first time. I mostly work on wooden panel and paper in my current practice, and it's been years since I worked on canvas.

After nearly 4 years, I am finally re-exploring florals in a full collection!
